The National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Kolkata, is an Institute of National Importance under the Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals & Fertilizers, Government of India. It has established a Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Flow Chemistry and Continuous Manufacturing.

Available Positions

Online applications are invited from eligible Indian nationals for various Teaching and Non-Teaching positions on a direct recruitment/deputation basis through open competition on an all-India basis.

Teaching Positions

Department of Medicinal Chemistry

Professor (01 UR) – Post Code: T-01

• Pay Level: Level-14 (7th CPC)
• Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade in the relevant field with an excellent academic record.
  • Minimum 10 years of Teaching/Research/Industry experience with significant publications and research contributions.
  • Desirable: Expertise in Pharmacoinformatics, Computational Chemistry, Cheminformatics, Bioinformatics with experience in developing software and web servers for drug discovery.
  • Strong background in High-Performance Computing (HPC), Molecular Docking, Quantum Medicinal Chemistry, and Artificial Intelligence in Drug Discovery.
  • Experience in guiding Master’s and Ph.D. students.
  • Preference for candidates with at least 3 years as an Associate Professor and a strong record of industry collaboration, patents, and technology transfers.
• Age Limit: Not exceeding 50 years.

Deputation Criteria:

• Faculty members from Government Universities/Institutions holding an analogous post or 5 years as an Associate Professor.
• Age limit: 3 years prior to superannuation in the parent organization.

Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology

Professor (01 UR) – Post Code: T-02

• Pay Level: Level-14 (7th CPC)
• Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade in the relevant discipline with an excellent academic record.
  • Minimum 10 years of Teaching/Research/Industry experience with a strong publication record.
  • Desirable:
    • Expertise in Immunopharmacology, Vaccine & Monoclonal Antibody Discovery, and Biologicals.
    • Hands-on experience with sophisticated Pharmacology & Molecular Biology equipment.
    • Regulatory Affairs knowledge and experience in leading national/international research collaborations.
  • Preference for candidates with 3 years as an Associate Professor, industry experience, technology transfers, and patents.
• Age Limit: Not exceeding 50 years.

Department of Pharmaceutical Analysis

Associate Professor (01 OBC-NCL) – Post Code: T-03

• Pay Level: Level-13 (7th CPC)
• Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade in the relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 8 years of Teaching/Research/Industry experience with high-quality publications.
  • Desirable:
    • Postgraduate degree in Pharmaceutical Analysis.
    • Expertise in Analytical Techniques, AQbD, Impurity Profiling, cGMP, GLP, ICH Guidelines, and Regulatory Requirements.
    • Experience handling instruments like HPLC, LC-MS-MS, and GC-MS for API and finished dosage analysis.
  • Experience guiding Master’s and Ph.D. students and handling sponsored research projects.
• Age Limit: Not exceeding 45 years (OBC-NCL candidates get a 3-year relaxation).

Deputation Criteria:

• Faculty members from Government Universities/Institutions holding an analogous post or 5 years as an Assistant Professor.
• Age limit: 3 years prior to superannuation in the parent organization.

Assistant Professor (01 OBC-NCL) – Post Code: T-04

• Pay Level: Level-12 (7th CPC)
• Qualifications & Experience:
  • Essential: Ph.D. with first class or equivalent grade in the relevant discipline.
  • Minimum 5 years of Teaching/Research/Industry experience with high-quality publications.
  • Desirable:
    • Knowledge in In-vitro & In-vivo Pharmacology, Drug Discovery, and Transgenic Models.
    • Experience in Regulatory Filing, Drug Safety, PK/PD Studies, and AI/ML-based Predictive Models.
  • Experience guiding Master’s students and sponsored research projects.
• Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years (OBC-NCL candidates get a 3-year relaxation).

Non-Teaching Position

Scientist/Technical Supervisor Grade I (01 UR) – Post Code: NT-02

• Pay Level: Level-9 (7th CPC)
• Essential Qualifications:
  • M.Sc / M.Pharma / M.V.Sc from a recognized university.
  • Minimum 4 years of research/teaching experience in Government or Autonomous institutions.
• Desirable:
  • Ph.D. with 2 years of post-qualification experience in high-end pharmaceutical research equipment.
  • Expertise in Spectral Analysis (NMR, IR, Fluorescence) and Process Chemistry.
• Age Limit: Not exceeding 40 years.
