About Us

The Regional Drugs Testing Laboratory (RDTL), Guwahati, is one of the five premier national laboratories established by the Government of India for the quality control of drugs and cosmetics. Operating under the Indian Drugs & Cosmetics Act 1940, RDTL is administered by the Drugs Controller General of India and functions under the Directorate General of Health Services, Ministry of Health & Family Welfare. Since its inception in 2002, the laboratory has been dedicated to serving the entire North Eastern States, including Sikkim, from its facility in Guwahati.

Position: Deputy Director (Group A, Pay Level-11)

We are inviting applications from eligible candidates for the position of Deputy Director on deputation/absorption (including short-term contract). The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in overseeing the laboratory’s operations, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and contributing to the quality control of drugs and cosmetics in the region.

Eligibility Criteria

Deputation/Absorption:

  • Current Role: Officers under the Central/State Government, Union Territories, Public Undertakings, Universities, Autonomous or Statutory Organizations, Recognized Research Institutions, or Semi-Government:
    • Holding analogous posts on a regular basis, or
    • With 5 years of regular service in posts at Pay Level-10 (Rs. 56100 – 177500) or equivalent.
  • Qualifications:
    • Master’s degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Pharmaceutical Chemistry, Biochemistry, Pharmacology, or Microbiology from a recognized university or equivalent.
    • Minimum of 5 years of experience in drug research and analysis, directing research, setting up and running a laboratory, and coordinating its branches, including 2 years of administrative experience.

Note:

  • The deputation/contract period should not exceed 3 years.
  • The maximum age limit for deputation (including short-term contact)/absorption is 56 years as of the closing date for applications.
  • Officers holding the post of Government Analyst to the Government of Assam on the notification date will be deemed absorbed as Deputy Director.
  • Only officers from Central/State Government or Union Territory are eligible for absorption.

Desirable:

  • Doctorate degree in a relevant subject from a recognized university/institution.

Required Documents:

  1. Application in the prescribed format (Annexure-II) duly filled and signed by the candidate and countersigned with a seal by the Cadre/Appointing authority.
  2. Attested copies of APAR/ACRs for the last 5 years, duly attested on each page by an officer not below the rank of Under Secretary to the Government of India.
  3. Integrity Certificate.
  4. Vigilance Clearance Certificate.
  5. Statement of major or minor penalties, if any, imposed on the officer during the last 10 years of service.
  6. Certificate confirming the accuracy of the particulars provided by the candidate, verified against service records.
  7. Cadre Clearance Certificate.
