Job Title: Scientist (Pharmaceutical)

Purpose of Role
As a Scientist at Abbott, you will play a vital role in providing technical support to our manufacturing facilities and Third-Party Manufacturers (TPMs) in the region. You will collaborate closely with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs to ensure the seamless production of our life-changing products. Your expertise will help troubleshoot commercial manufacturing issues, support product localization, and contribute to cost improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support to Abbott manufacturing facilities and TPMs, ensuring collaboration across Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Commercial, Quality Assurance, and Regulatory Affairs.
  • Address and resolve commercial manufacturing issues to prevent supply chain disruptions.
  • Support product localization efforts by considering cost estimates, regulatory requirements, business plans, timelines, and contingency plans.
  • Review dossiers and technical packs to enable rapid and accurate evaluation of new business opportunities, including in-licensing and co-marketing ventures.
  • Coordinate technical support for products within and outside globally coordinated work streams, ensuring product reliability and portfolio growth.
  • Assist with projects such as technology transfers, API supplier qualifications, localization programs, and gross margin improvements.
  • Oversee all technology transfer activities related to manufacturing processes and support continuous improvement projects, formulation development, and validation.
  • Provide technical due diligence and support for regional licensing and acquisition initiatives.

Candidate Profile

  • Postgraduate degree in Pharmacy (Pharmaceutical Science).
  • Strong knowledge of formulation development, manufacturing processes, and commercial equipment.
  • Hands-on experience with alternate source qualification for API, excipients, and packaging materials.
  • Basic understanding of formulation and product behavior to mitigate process-related risks.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Agile and adaptable, with a strong work ethic and the ability to meet expectations.
