Secretary-cum-Scientific Director
The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission, an autonomous body under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, is seeking a competent, dedicated, and dynamic individual for the position of Secretary-cum-Scientific Director. The commission, located in Sector-23, Raj Nagar, Ghaziabad-201002, focuses on periodically publishing new editions of the Indian Pharmacopoeia, the National Formulary of India, and managing certification and distribution processes for other reference substances.

Scale of Pay: Pay Matrix Level-14 (Rs. 1,44,200-2,18,200)
Mode of Recruitment: Direct Recruitment
Age: Preferably below 50 years
Tenure: 5 years
Essential Qualifications
Non-Medical:
- Post-Graduate degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Chemistry, Pharmacology, or Microbiology from a recognized university
- Ph.D. in any of the related fields
Medical:
- Post-Graduate degree in Medical or Biological Sciences with a specialty in Microbiology or Pharmacology
Desirable: Ph.D. in any of the related fields
Experience Requirements
- 15 years of experience, including 5 years at a senior level in the pharmaceutical sector
- Research experience in the relevant field, supported by published papers
Job Description
The Secretary-cum-Scientific Director will serve as the Chief Scientific and Executive Officer of the Commission and act as the member-secretary of the General Body, Governing Body, Scientific Body, and other committees formed by the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission. Responsibilities include providing leadership and strategic direction to the Commission, preparing monographs for drugs and formulations to be included in the Indian Pharmacopoeia, ensuring the timely publication of the National Formulary of India, and implementing a time-bound program for the availability of quality-certified reference substances needed for drug quality assurance.
