Job Description:
Role Summary: The Medical Content Writer, part of the Medical Content Writing Services team within the Global & US Medical Channel Content organization, is responsible for crafting global medical channel content for assigned therapeutic areas and/or medicines. This includes the creation of abstracts, manuscripts, congress presentations, plain language summaries, slide decks, and various external-facing medical content.
Role Responsibilities at Pfizer:
- Develop global medical channel content for assigned therapeutic areas and/or medicines.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional partners, including Medical Channel Content Leads, Medical Leads, agencies, and publication specialists.
- Create accurate and relevant medical content by researching, organizing, interpreting, and quality-checking technical and/or medical information.
- Ensure adherence to approved templates/formats for local market adaptability as appropriate.
- Utilize tools such as OvidSP, PubMed, Medline, Embase, and Biosis to examine scientific literature for strategic content development.
- Conduct accuracy review and data quality control for all medical content.
- Deliver all required tactics within expected timelines and budget, adhering to SOPs and guidelines.
- Stay updated on evolving trends in medical content generation to leverage industry best practices continuously.
Candidate Profile Required at Pfizer:
Technical:
- Excellent scientific writing skills with the ability to interpret and summarize complicated data effectively.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize multiple projects, meeting deadlines with attention to detail.
- Effective influencing skills for guiding content strategy decisions within cross-functional, global teams.
- Experience with software like Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and reference management tools (e.g., EndNote).
- Strong understanding of statistical principles used in medical research and familiarity with epidemiologic principles.
Educational:
- High fluency in written and spoken English.
- Post-graduate/Doctorate degree in life sciences/pharmacy/medical sciences or equivalent.
- 3 to 6 years relevant experience for medical graduates/PhDs; more than 6 years for masters in life sciences.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in publication writing in academic settings or communications experience within an agency, CRO, Pharma/Biotech Company.
