Job Overview:

The Health Department, Bihar Patna, in coordination with the General Administration Department, invites online applications from eligible Indian citizens for the post of Pharmacist. A total of 2,473 vacancies are available across different categories.

Eligibility Criteria:

Educational Qualification:

  1. Must have passed Intermediate/10+2 (Science).
  2. Diploma in Pharmacy (D. Pharma) from a government-recognized institute, with all parts (I, II, and III) completed.
  3. Registration with the Bihar Pharmacy Council is mandatory.
  4. Candidates with B. Pharma or M. Pharma must also have D. Pharma qualification.

Age Limit (As of August 1, 2024):

  • Minimum Age: 18 years
  • Maximum Age:
    • Unreserved (Male): 37 years
    • Unreserved (Female): 40 years
    • BC/EBC (Male & Female): 40 years
    • SC/ST (Male & Female): 42 years

Age Relaxation: Additional relaxations apply as per government rules, including:

  • 10 years for Persons with Disabilities (PwD).
  • 5 years for regularly appointed government employees with at least 3 years of service.
  • Contract employees in state government hospitals/health departments may receive an age relaxation equivalent to their work experience.

Application Fee:

  • General/BC/EBC/EWS: Rs. 600/-
  • SC/ST (Permanent Residents of Bihar): Rs. 150/-
  • Female Candidates (Reserved & Unreserved) of Bihar: Rs. 150/-
  • Candidates from outside Bihar (Male & Female): Rs. 600/-
  • PwD Candidates: One-fourth of the unreserved fee (Rs. 150/-)

Mode of Payment: Online (Debit Card/Credit Card/Internet Banking/UPI). Bank charges may apply.


Selection Process:

Candidates will be selected based on:

  1. Computer-Based Written Examination (CBT):
    • 75 Marks
    • Minimum qualifying marks (Category-wise):
      • General: 40%
      • BC: 36.5%
      • EBC: 34%
      • SC/ST/Female/PwD: 32%
    • Negative Marking: 0.25 marks deducted for each incorrect answer.
  2. Work Experience in Government Hospitals/Health Departments:
    • 5 Marks per Year (Max: 25 Marks)
    • Partial years calculated proportionally.
  3. Final Merit List: Based on combined written exam score and work experience.

Exam Structure:

  • Total Questions: 100 (MCQ Format)
  • Exam Duration: 2 hours
  • Language: Hindi & English
  • Syllabus: Diploma in Pharmacy-level syllabus (Details available on Commission’s website).
  • Normalization Process: Applied for multi-shift exams.

  9. Work Experience Certificate (if applicable).
