Post: Veterinary Compounder
The Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services has announced openings for the position of Veterinary Compounder. Interested and eligible candidates are invited to apply online for this Group-C Non-ministerial post. The selection process will involve a COMPUTER BASED TEST conducted by the department of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services in collaboration with the Recruitment Agency.

- Citizenship: All applicants must be Indian nationals.
- Application Mode: Candidates must apply online for the post, irrespective of their registration status with the Employment Exchange.
- Central Government Employees and Departmental Candidates: Those currently serving as civilian employees/servants of the Central Government and Departmental Candidates of A&N Administration are also eligible to apply online, and they must also submit a No Objection Certificate (NOC) or inform their respective department about their online application submission for the post.
Age Limit: The age criteria for the Veterinary Compounder post are as follows:
- For Male Candidates: Between 18 and 33 years
- For Female Candidates: Between 18 and 38 years Note: Candidates must have attained a minimum age of 18 years and should not exceed the maximum age limit of 33/38 years (for male/female candidates, respectively) on the closing date of receipt of online applications. Additionally, a relaxation of 2 years beyond the upper age limit mentioned in the relevant Recruitment Rules (RRs) has been granted, as a one-time measure, for direct recruitment of all Group-C posts, according to A&N Administration’s Order No. 2285 dated 01.09.2022.
Educational & Other Qualifications:
To be eligible for the post of Veterinary Compounder, candidates must meet the following educational and other qualifications:
- Essential Qualifications: (i) Passed Senior Secondary School Certificate (XIIth Std.) in Science Stream with Biology as one of the main subjects from a recognized Institution/Board. (ii) Completed a Diploma in Animal Husbandry/Veterinary Pharmacy/Livestock extension, or its equivalent, from a recognized Institution or Board. The diploma course should have a duration of a minimum of 2 years. (iii) Must qualify the written recruitment test to be conducted by the department/administration.
Fee Payable: (a) Candidates, except for Female/ST/Persons with Benchmark Disability candidates, are required to pay a fee of Rs. 25/- (Rupees Twenty-five only). The payment can be made using various online modes such as Net Banking, VISA/Master/Rupay/Credit/Debit Card, UPI Payment/QR Code. (b) After completing the payment, candidates need to upload the transaction slip in the portal with a file size ranging from 10 KB to 500 KB in .jpg/Jpeg format.
Centre of Examination: The Recruitment Examination will be held only at Port Blair.
Method of Selection: Computer Based Test (CBT)
Mode of Selection:
(a) The minimum qualifying marks for each subject in the CBT will be 40%.
(b) All candidates whose applications are found to be in order after scrutiny will be called to appear for the Recruitment Examination. The Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, A & N Administration will not conduct a detailed scrutiny of the application for eligibility and other aspects at the time of the Recruitment Examination. Hence, the candidature will be accepted provisionally. (c) Candidates qualifying the Computer Based Test (CBT) will be appointed based on the merit list, subject to fulfilling all essential requirements as per the existing Recruitment Rules (RRs).
(d) ST, OBC, and EWS candidates selected on their own merit without relaxed standards will not be adjusted against the reserved share of vacancies. They will be accommodated against the general/unreserved vacancies based on their position in the overall Merit List.
Note: The reserved vacancies will be filled separately from among eligible ST, OBC & EWS candidates, who are lower in merit than the last general candidate (UR) in the merit list of the unreserved category but are otherwise found suitable for appointment even by relaxed standards. Success in the examination does not guarantee appointment unless the Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, A & N Administration is satisfied after further inquiry/scrutiny or verification of certificates/documents.
Selection of Candidates: a) The final selection for the appointment to the Veterinary Compounder post will be based on the total marks secured in the Computer Based Test. However, the candidates must also satisfy the verification of all mandatory original certificates and testimonials on the scheduled/prescribed date and venue. b) Only shortlisted candidates who qualify the recruitment examination will be called for Document/Certificate Verification in person.
Additional Instructions and Conditions to the Candidates:
a) Candidates are advised to fill the online application carefully and diligently because once the application is submitted, it cannot be modified.
b) Requests for changes or corrections in any particulars of the application form after submission will not be entertained under any circumstances.
c) Candidates must write/mark the answers in their own hand, and they will not be allowed or provided the help of a scribe to write/mark the answers for them.
d) Candidates appearing for the examination must be present at the examination hall one hour before the commencement of the recruitment examination.
e) No Travel Allowance (TA) or Dearness Allowance (DA) will be paid to the candidates for appearing in the recruitment examination.
f) Similarly, shortlisted candidates attending further processes will not be paid TA/DA for attending those processes.
g) Candidates will not be allowed to leave the Exam Hall before the closing time of the Written Exam.
h) Final selection for appointment will be based on the marks secured on merit basis in the Computer Based Test, subject to verification of character and antecedents, and a medical examination by the appropriate authority.
i) Candidates seeking reservation benefits available for ST/OBC/EWSs etc. must ensure that they are entitled to such reservation as per the eligibility prescribed in the Notice. They should also possess valid required certificates in the prescribed format to support their claim at the time of application. j) Central Government Civilian Employees/servants and departmental candidates of A&N Administration claiming age relaxation should have a certificate in the prescribed format from their office, stating their length of continuous service, which should be for not less than three years in the immediate period preceding the closing date for receipt of application. They should continue to have the status of Central Government Civilian Employees/servants until the time of appointment, if selected.
k) Candidates must provide their name, date of birth, father’s name, and mother’s name strictly as given in the matriculation certificate. Any discrepancy may lead to the cancellation of candidature during document verification or at any later stage noticed by the department.
l) The Directorate of Animal Husbandry & Veterinary Services, A&N Administration, will make available the scores and ranking of candidates on the portal after the declaration of the final result. Candidates will have the option to opt-out of the disclosure scheme to keep their information private when downloading the admit card.
m) The department reserves the right to accept/reject any candidature without assigning any reason.
n) The department will only accept the candidature provisionally during the written examination. Detailed scrutiny of applications will be undertaken at the time of Document Verification. If any claim made in the application is not found substantiated, the candidature will be canceled, and the decision of the department will be final.
