Northern Railway has a rich history and was formally established in 1952. It has been a vital part of the Indian Railways network, connecting various parts of northern India through its vast network of rail routes.
Northern Railway is also the largest zone in terms of route kilometers, which is a testament to its extensive reach and coverage. Its network comprises of 5 divisions – Ambala, Delhi, Ferozpur, Lucknow, and Moradabad, each playing a crucial role in maintaining the smooth operation of the zone.

Post: Pharmacist
The contract period will be for 12 months, and based on satisfactory completion, the contract may be extended.
Qualification: The qualification required for the position is a 10+2 in science or its equivalent with 02 years Diploma in Pharmacy / Degree in Pharmacy and registration with Pharmacy Council of India (or) with State Pharmacy Council.
Fixed Monthly Remuneration (in Rs.): The position offers a fixed monthly remuneration of Rs. 22748.58.
Age: The age of the pharmacist should be above 18 and below 50 years.
Performance : the performance of the pharmacist will be closely monitored, and if their performance is found to be unsatisfactory, RCNK authorities have the right to terminate the contract with immediate effect.
Scope of work:
The scope of work for the pharmacist is quite extensive and includes tasks such as preparing lotions, ointments, and applications for surgical dressings, attending to emergencies in the absence of the medical officer (as far as rendering first aid is concerned), maintaining the dispensing room and the appliances therein in proper working order, and distributing medicines to the patients.
The pharmacist is also responsible for the accountal of drugs, medicines, dressings, consumable and perishable stores, maintaining all registers in connection with medical statistics, preparing periodical returns, bills, and indents under the supervision of the medical officer, maintaining the drug account and drug registers, and receiving stores from the parcel/goods office or stores delivery clerk and entering the same in respective ledgers.
Other responsibilities of the pharmacist include assisting the doctor in preparation of the annual/emergent indents of drugs, dressings, instruments, medical and surgical appliances, and medical stores of hospital/health unit, keeping a record of all out-door case sheets and injury case sheets, preparing all certificates leaving the “disease” column to be filled by the doctor, and maintaining the records under safe custody.
The pharmacist is also responsible for the maintenance and accountal of tools and plants and its registers in health units, receiving necessary forms of medical examination and entering them in the register for medical examination of candidates and employees when required, and taking height, weight, and chest measurements of candidates and employees for medical examination when required.
Nature of Engagement:
The engagement is for a period of 12 months and may be extended based on satisfactory performance. The selected candidate will be responsible for various tasks related to preparing and distributing medicines, maintaining records, and assisting doctors with various tasks.
It’s important to note that the engagement is purely on a contractual basis and will not confer any right for automatic regularization or absorption. Additionally, a certain amount will be deducted from the remuneration in case of absence, except for Sundays, RH & NH.
Candidates who fulfill the eligibility criteria and have the necessary documents should submit their applications as per the schedule mentioned. These documents include proof of age, educational qualifications, experience certificate (if any), registration with the pharmacy council, and two passport size photographs.

Date & Venue: The date of the interview is March 13, 2023, and the venue is the Office of the Chief Workshop Manager, Administrative Block, 1st floor, Tender Cell, Rail Coach Naveenikaran Karkhana, Phase-III, Barhi Industrial area, Sonipat – 131101.
Timing: The interview will be conducted from 09:00 hrs to 17:00 hrs.
