About GSO

The General Services Organization (GSO) plays a crucial role within the Department of Atomic Energy in India, overseeing various essential facilities and services for the Atomic Energy Townships at Kalpakkam and Anupuram. Established in 1979, it has been instrumental in managing a range of amenities including housing, medical services, transportation, water supply, and various infrastructure aspects like civil, electrical, mechanical, telecommunication, and computer services.

Dr. B. Venkatraman, a Distinguished Scientist and concurrently the Director of Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Research (IGCAR), serves as the Director of GSO, bringing substantial expertise to the organization’s leadership. Under his guidance, GSO ensures the smooth functioning and maintenance of these critical services, thereby supporting the well-being and operational efficiency of the Atomic Energy Townships.

Number of Posts: 5 (Five)

Educational Qualification:

  • HSC (10+2) + 2 years Diploma in Pharmacy + 3 months Training in pharmacy + Registration as a Pharmacist with Central or State Pharmacy Council

Age Limit:

  • Not to exceed 50 years as on the date of Interview

Consolidated Monthly Pay:

  • Rs. 46,500/- (Excluding HRA of Rs. 2,920/-)

Selection Procedure

  1. If the number of applications received exceeds the requirement, GSO reserves the right to limit the number of candidates based on the percentage of marks obtained.
  2. Details of screened-in candidates, along with the date and time of the interview, shall be displayed on the GSO website www.igcar.gov.in/gso.
  3. Screened-in candidates must bring:
    • Original certificates of date of birth, educational qualification (including year-wise mark sheets), Registration & experience, etc.
    • One set of self-attested copies of certificates
    • Copy of the application for the Interview.
  4. Any amendments or corrigendum will be notified on the GSO Website only.

How to Apply

  1. Candidates should download the application available on the GSO website and fill the soft copy of the application pro-forma in Excel format, without altering its format, and email it to careergso@igcar.gov.in (Multiple applications received will be rejected) by the last date mentioned in the table above.
  2. Before filling up the application in Microsoft Excel, candidates need to enable the Macro option in Microsoft Excel on the computer.
  3. Ensure that the photo and signature are clearly visible in the preview at the time of filling the application. Applications with small or unclear photo/signature will be rejected.
  4. After submitting the online application form, candidates are required to take a print of the online application form and bring it to the Interview.
  5. Applications should be in Excel format only. Applications received in other formats will be summarily rejected.
  6. Incomplete applications and applications with erroneous/inaccurate details may lead to the cancellation of candidature for the Interview.

General Guidelines

  1. Selection for the above posts is purely on a temporary basis. The maximum period of appointment will be six months. However, such locum appointments shall not exceed 89 days at a time.
  2. Selected candidates will be provided Hostel Accommodation upon taking up the appointment, on a payment basis if required. They will be entitled to House Rent Allowance (HRA) if own arrangements for accommodation are made.
