About Punjab Biotechnology Incubator (PBTI)

The Department of Science, Technology and Environment, Government of Punjab (GoP), with financial support from the Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India (GoI), established the Punjab Biotechnology Incubator (PBTI) in 2005. PBTI is a key component of the Agri Food Biotechnology Cluster located in Knowledge City, Sector 81, SAS Nagar (Mohali). As a registered society under the Societies Registration Act, PBTI is professionally governed by a Governing Council chaired by the Chief Secretary of Punjab.

From its temporary premises in Mohali, PBTI began offering high-end, world-class NABL accredited analytical services to sectors such as agriculture, food, environment, and allied industries. In addition to these analytical services, PBTI provides contract research services, technology validation services, and Project Management Consultancy (PMC)/Project Management Advisory (PMA) services. These services are utilized by farmers, entrepreneurs, startups, industries, exporters, and regulators.

Furthermore, PBTI serves as a knowledge partner for the establishment and operation of food, water, and environment monitoring laboratories in both the public and private sectors. Over time, PBTI’s facilities have been technically strengthened and upgraded with support from various ministries, including the Ministry of Commerce & Industries, the Ministry of Food Processing Industries, the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, and the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) under the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, GoI.

The Punjab Biotechnology Incubator (PBTI) is inviting applications for the following positions through direct recruitment on a contractual basis for a period of 5 years, extendable as per PBTI’s requirements.

Position: Junior Scientific Officer (Chemical)

  • Number of Posts/Category: 01 (One), reserved for BC (woman) Category
  • Minimum Admissible Pay per Month: Rs. 35,400/-
  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • Essential:
      • 1st Class Master’s Degree in Basic/Life/Environmental Sciences/Food Sciences OR
      • 1st Class B.Tech or equivalent in Biotechnology/Food Technology/Dairy Technology OR
      • 1st Class B. Pharma from a recognized University/Institute
      • At least 2 years of analytical experience in the relevant field after the essential qualification
    • Desirable:
      • Experience with national/international testing & certification laboratories/organizations
      • Knowledge of national/international laboratory quality management systems and standards for quality testing
      • Preference for candidates qualified as Food Analyst by FSSAI
  • Job Requirement: Responsible for the analysis of agricultural/food & allied products/environmental monitoring.
  • Age: 18-37 years

Position: Scientific Assistant

  • Number of Posts/Category: 01 (One), reserved for SC Category
  • Minimum Admissible Pay per Month: Rs. 29,200/-
  • Qualifications and Experience:
    • Essential:
      • 1st Class Master’s Degree in Basic/Life/Environmental Sciences/Food Sciences OR
      • 1st Class B.Tech or equivalent in Biotechnology/Food Technology/Dairy Technology OR
      • 1st Class B. Pharma from a recognized University/Institute
    • Desirable:
      • Experience with national/international testing & certification laboratories/organizations
      • Knowledge of national/international laboratory quality management systems and standards for quality testing
      • Preference for candidates qualified as Food Analyst by FSSAI
  • Job Requirement: Responsible for the analysis of agricultural/food & allied products/environmental monitoring.
  • Age: 18-37 years

  6. Fee Exemption: No fee for SC/ST candidates.
  7. Age Relaxation:
    • Ex-servicemen of Punjab domicile can deduct the period of service in the Armed Forces from their actual age.
    • No age limit for internal candidates.
  8. Age Limits: Candidates must be within the specified age limits as of 01.01.2024.
  9. Government Employees: Applications from government department employees will be considered if forwarded through the proper channel and certified by the employer.

  11. Incomplete Applications: Incomplete applications or those without the fee will not be considered.
