About Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission

The Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC) operates as an autonomous institution under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India. Its primary purpose is to establish and regularly update standards for drugs in the country. The commission plays a crucial role in enhancing the quality of medicines by continually revising and adding new monographs in the form of the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP). This official document sets forth standards for the identity, purity, and strength of drugs that are essential for the treatment of prevalent diseases in the region, both for humans and animals.

In addition to the Indian Pharmacopoeia, IPC contributes to the promotion of the rational use of generic medicines by publishing the National Formulary of India. By doing so, the commission aims to ensure that drugs meet specified standards to guarantee their effectiveness and safety in healthcare practices. Overall, the IPC’s efforts are geared towards maintaining and improving the quality of pharmaceuticals in India, thereby safeguarding the well-being of the population.

Applications are invited for the engagement of a contractual position of Pharmacopoeial Scientist at the Indian Pharmacopoeia Commission (IPC), Ghaziabad through Manpower Resource Outsourcing Services Providing Agency.

Emolument: Rs.50,000/PM

Qualification / Experience Required at IPC:

Ph.D. degree in Biotechnology / Molecular Biology / Pharmacy / Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent
Good knowledge of Biological Impurities and impurities in biological products, National and International Guidelines related to Impurities in biotechnology-derived therapeutic products, and biological products
Analysis/testing of biotechnology-derived therapeutic products and biological products using instrumental techniques
Good knowledge of computers

Master’s degree in Biotechnology/Molecular Biology/Pharmacology/Pharmaceutical Biotechnology or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience in handling modern analytical instruments (HPLC, Western Blot, ELISA, Gel electrophoresis, etc.)
Good knowledge of Biological Impurities and impurities in biological products, National and International Guidelines related to Biological Impurities in biotechnology-derived therapeutic products and biological products
Good knowledge of computers

Nature of Duties:

Developing general chapters for impurities in biological products and Biological impurities
Developing IP monographs for biological products
Establishing IP specifications for such impurities
Conducting research in the area of impurities in biological products, Biological impurities, and Biological products

Period of engagement: The tenure of the contract will be for a period of one year, with the possibility of renewal based on the applicant’s performance. Termination may occur if the work and conduct are unsatisfactory during the contract tenure.

General Instructions:

The competent authority reserves the right to increase or decrease the number of vacancies and reject/select/cancel applications without assigning any reason.
Interviews will be conducted at IPC, Ghaziabad. No TA/DA shall be paid for attending the interview.
Emolument per month may vary based on the experience & performance of the applicant at the time of the interview.
It is not obligatory for IPC or the Manpower Outsourcing Service Agency to call the applicant for an interview. Preference may be given to candidates with desirable experience.
Experience/Age may be relaxed at the discretion of the Competent Authority.
The candidate is responsible for the correctness of the information provided in the application. If found incorrect/false later, the candidature/appointment is liable to be cancelled/terminated.
