About Institute of Chemical Technology

Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) in Mumbai, India, the institute was indeed established on October 1, 1933, as the University Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT) under the University of Bombay, now known as the University of Mumbai. Over the years, the institute has evolved into a prominent (deemed) university with a focus on education, training, research, and industrial collaboration in various fields such as chemical engineering, chemical technology, applied chemistry, pharmacy, biotechnology, and bio-processing.

ICT has played a significant role in advancing India’s knowledge and expertise in the field of chemical sciences and technology. Applications are invited for the following teaching positions at the Mumbai Campus of ICT on a permanent basis.

Professor

Entry Pay and Level: Basic pay Rs. 1,44,200/- in level-14

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • For Engineering/Technology/Pharmacy: First class at Bachelor’s or Master’s level in the relevant field.
    • For Science: First class at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant field.
    • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum 13 years in teaching/research/industry.
    • At least 3 years at the post equivalent to Associate Professor.
    • Published at least 15 research publications in SCI or Scopus indexed Journals.
    • Successful guidance of 2 Ph.D. students or significant project involvement.
  3. Age Limit: Not more than 55 years (may be relaxed under scrutiny/selection committee recommendations).

Associate Professor

Entry Pay and Level: Basic pay Rs. 1,31,400/- in level-13Al

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Similar to Professor, with a minimum of 8 years of experience.
    • For Management: First class at Bachelor’s or Master’s in any relevant field.
  2. Experience:
    • Minimum 8 years in teaching/research/industry.
    • At least 3 years at the post equivalent to Assistant Professor.
    • Published at least 10 research publications in SCI or Scopus indexed Journals.
    • Successful guidance of 1 Ph.D. student or significant project involvement.
  3. Age Limit: Not more than 50 years (may be relaxed under scrutiny/selection committee recommendations).

Assistant Professor

Entry Pay and Level: Rs. 57,700/-, Level – 10

Qualification and Experience:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    • Similar to Professor, with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
    • For Management: First class at Bachelor’s or Master’s in any relevant field.
    • For Science/Languages: First class at both Bachelor’s and Master’s level in the relevant field.
  2. Experience:
    • Ph.D. in the relevant field.
    • Minimum 3 research publications in SCI or Scopus indexed Journals.
  3. Age Limit: Not more than 45 years (may be relaxed under scrutiny/selection committee recommendations).

Instructions:

  1. Educational qualifications are minimum; possession doesn’t guarantee an interview call.
  2. Candidates without a formal Master’s degree but with a direct Ph.D. after Bachelor’s will be evaluated based on doctoral work.
  3. Class/Division not awarded: 60% marks considered equivalent to First class/division.
  4. Co-guideship for Ph.D./Masters Students not considered for equivalence.
  5. Time taken for M.Phil./Ph.D. not considered as teaching/research experience.
  6. Publications, patents, and research impact are crucial for selection.
  7. Shortlisted candidates must make presentations before the interview.

Important Points for Application:

  1. Online applications available from 23rd February, 2024, to be submitted by 17th March, 2024.
  2. PDF printouts (3 copies) and self-attested documents must reach the Institute by 24th March, 2024.
  3. Application fee: Rs. 1000/- (General) and Rs. 500/- (reserved categories).
  4. Candidates from government organizations must apply through proper channels.
  5. Services can be availed at any Off-Campus.
  6. Candidates from Semi-Government/Private Organizations need a No Objection Certificate.
  7. Incomplete applications or those submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
  8. Declaration of a small family required with the application.
  9. Reserved categories as per Maharashtra state rules; outside Maharashtra treated as Open.
  10. Age considered as of 23rd February, 2024.
  11. Appointing authority’s decision final; disputes subject to Mumbai jurisdiction.
