The National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) is a specialized institution that plays a crucial role in ensuring the quality of biological products in India. NIB is responsible for testing and evaluating various biological products, such as vaccines, blood products, diagnostic kits, and therapeutic monoclonal antibodies, to ensure they meet the standards set by the Drugs and Cosmetics Act 1940 and its amendments. The Institute is also recognized as a World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for quality control of in-vitro diagnostic assays and supports the WHO’s Pre-Qualification Programme for In-Vitro Diagnostics.

NIB’s mission is to provide a scientific and technical base for the assessment of the quality, safety, and efficacy of biological products in the country. By performing rigorous quality control tests and evaluations, NIB helps to ensure that biological products in India meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and efficacy.

S.N.1(Scientist Grade-I):

The National Institute of Biologicals (NIB) is hiring for the position of Scientist Grade-I (S.N.1) with a single vacancy available for candidates belonging to the Unreserved (UR) category. The eligibility criteria for the position is outlined below:

Medical:

  • MBBS degree from a Medical College recognized by the Medical Council of India (MCI)
  • Postgraduate Medical Degree in Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Serology, or Hematology from a recognized University
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience after acquiring the essential qualification

Non-Medical:

  • Master’s degree in Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Bacteriology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Serology, or Molecular Biology from a recognized university with at least 60% marks
  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in the following areas:
    • Quality Control Testing of Biologicals and Biotherapeutics
    • Review of Technical Dossiers of Biologicals and Biotherapeutics including vaccines with regards to Chemistry Manufacturing Control (CMC)
    • Review of Technical Dossiers of in vitro diagnostic medical devices
    • Evaluation and Review of adverse events associated with biologicals and biotherapeutics, blood transfusion, and in vitro diagnostic medical devices
    • Management of Quality System with ISO: 17025 and ISO: 34 and Total Quality Management approach
    • Research in Biologicals and Biotherapeutics

Alternatively, candidates who have a Ph.D. in any of the above-mentioned disciplines and 6 years of relevant experience are also eligible for the position.

Desirable: Candidates with at least 7 publications or articles in indexed journals in any of the above-mentioned fields of qualification or experience are preferred.

Scale of pay : The scale of pay for the position is Pay Matrix Level-13, with a salary range of Rs. 123100-215900/-, plus NPA for medical personnel.

Max. Age Limit : The maximum age limit for the position is 50 years.

S.N.2 (Scientist Grade-Ill):

S.N.2 (Scientist Grade-III)

Number of posts: 01 (UR)

Eligibility Criteria:

  1. A. Essential: Medical:
  • MBBS from an MCI-recognized medical college.
  • PG Medical Degree in Microbiology/ Biochemistry/Immunohematology & Blood Transfusion / Pharmacology / Bacteriology / Serology / Hematology from a recognized university with 1 year of relevant experience in the field after acquiring the essential qualification.
  1. Non-Medical (Essential):
  • Master’s degree in Microbiology/Clinical Microbiology/ Biotechnology/ Bioinformatics/ Biochemistry/ Bacteriology/ Physiology/ Pharmacology/ Serology/ Molecular Biology from a recognized university with at least 60% marks.
  • A minimum of three years of relevant experience in any of the following areas:
    • Quality Control Testing of Biologicals and Biotherapeutics
    • Review of Technical Dossiers of Biologicals and Biotherapeutics including Vaccines in terms of Chemistry Manufacturing Control (CMC), non-clinical trial data on Animal Pharmacology/ Animal Toxicology, Clinical Trial data.
    • Review of Technical Dossiers of In Vitro Diagnostic (IVD) Medical Devices in terms of conformity to the Essential Principles of Safety and Performance of Medical Devices, including product description, design, and manufacturing information, product performance specifications and associated validation and verification studies, labeling, and regulatory history.
    • Evaluation and Review of Adverse Events (AEFI) following immunization, adverse events associated with biologicals and biotherapeutics (Pharmacovigilance), adverse events associated with blood transfusion and blood product administration (Haemovigilance), and adverse events due to indirect harm associated with IVD Medical Devices (Materiovigilance).
    • Management of Quality System with application of ISO: 17025 and ISO: 34 with a Total Quality Management approach.
    • Research in Biologicals and Biotherapeutics.

Desirable: At least 2 publications or articles in indexed journals in any of the above-mentioned fields of qualification or experience.

Scale of pay: Pay Matrix level-10 (Rs. 56100-177500) + NPA for medical personnel

S.N.3 (Junior Scientist):

The Scientist Grade-Ill position requires an MBBS degree from a MCI recognized medical college and a PG Medical Degree in the field of Microbiology, Biochemistry, Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion, Pharmacology, Bacteriology, Serology, or Hematology from a recognized university. The candidate should also have 1 year of relevant experience in the field. The position also requires a Master’s degree in Microbiology, Clinical Microbiology, Biotechnology, Bioinformatics, Biochemistry, Bacteriology, Physiology, Pharmacology, Serology, or Molecular Biology with at least 60% marks and 3 years of relevant experience in Quality Control Testing of Biologicals, Review of Technical Dossiers of Biologicals and Biotherapeutics including vaccines, Evaluation and Review of Adverse Events, Management of Quality System, and Research in Biologicals and Biotherapeutics. A desirable requirement is 2 publications or articles in indexed journals in any of the related fields. The position offers a pay scale of Pay Matrix level-10 with a maximum salary of Rs.56100-177500 plus NPA for medical personnel. The maximum age limit for the position is 35 years.

A desirable requirement is 1 publication or article in an indexed journal in any of the related fields. The position offers a pay scale of Pay Matrix level-7 with a maximum salary of Rs.44900-142400. The maximum age limit for the position is 30 years.

Criteria of Income & Assets for EWS category :-

As part of the Economically Weaker Section (EWS) category, the person’s family must have a gross annual income below Rs. 8.00 Lakh and should not own or possess any of the following assets:

  • 5 acres of agricultural land and above
  • Residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. and above
  • Residential plot of 100 yards and above in notified municipalities
  • Residential plot of 200 sq. yards and above in areas other than the notified municipalities
