The Tata Memorial Centre (TMC) is indeed a comprehensive cancer center located in India. TMC is an autonomous body that receives funding and is under the control of the Department of Atomic Energy, which is part of the Government of India. It is affiliated with the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), which is a Deemed University also under the Department of Atomic Energy. HBNI’s primary objective is to develop high-quality postgraduate educational programs in various fields of science and technology, including those that are relevant to life and health sciences.

Position: Scientific Assistant ‘B’ (Tissue Bank)

Reservation: 01-OBC

Level and Salary:

  • Level: Level 6 [Pre-revised PB-2, Rs.9300-34800 + 4200 GP]
  • Level of Pay: Rs.35,400/- Level 6, Cell 1 + Allowances applicable

Age Limit:

  • Upper Age Limit: 30 years as of 14.07.2023

Qualification & Experience:

  • B.Sc (Biotechnology / Pharmacy / Microbiology / Life Science and Allied Health / Biological Science) with a minimum of 50% marks
  • Degree/diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology (DMLT) from a government recognized institute with 1 year of experience in the relevant field, OR
  • B.Sc in Medical Laboratory Technology with 50% marks and 2 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with working experience in Tissue Banking, Tissue handling, clean environment, and Quality Control System.

Location: Tata Memorial Hospital, Parel, Mumbai

General Conditions:

  • The academic designation for medical posts (Sr.No.1 to 16) will be given as per the National Medical Commission norms after joining.
  • The application deadline is 14.07.2023, until 05:30 p.m. (Indian Standard Time).

Age Relaxation:

  • SC/ST: 5 years
  • OBC: 3 years
  • PWD: 10 years (additional 5 years for SC/ST and 3 years for OBC)
  • Ex-servicemen: Length of service in Armed forces plus 3 years (additional relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as per government instructions)
  • Age relaxation of 5 years for TMC employees and employees working in TMC on a temporary or contract basis.

  • Rs. 300/- for candidates, payable online using Debit Card/Credit Card.
  • SC/ST/Female Candidates/Persons with Disabilities/Ex-servicemen (1st time applying for civil post after serving any rank) are exempted from paying the application fees.

Grade and Benefits:

  • Candidates may be offered a lower grade based on their experience, research track record, and overall assessment at the time of the interview and recommendation of the Selection Committee.

Rotation and Transfer:

  • Selected candidates may be rotated among different units of TMC, including Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, ACTREC, Navi Mumbai, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Sangrur, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Mullanpur, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre, Vizag, Mahamana Pt.Madan Mohan Maliviya Cancer Centre (BHU), Varanasi, Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital, Varanasi, and BBCI, Guwahati, based on the needs of the respective units.
  • Selected candidates will have to serve at the respective location for a minimum of 5 years before requesting a transfer to other units, subject to TMC management’s discretion.

Appointment and Contract Basis:

  • The TMC may offer appointments on a “Contract Basis” for a fixed term with a consolidated remuneration.
