The Assam Rifles has a long and storied history of service in India. In addition to their involvement in World War I and II, the force has been involved in a variety of conflicts and operations within India and its surrounding regions. Some notable examples include:

  • The Sino-Indian War of 1962: During the conflict with China, the Assam Rifles played an important role in defending the northeastern border of India. The force also assisted in the evacuation of civilians from areas near the conflict zone.
  • Counterinsurgency operations in Northeast India: The Assam Rifles has been involved in combating a number of insurgent groups operating in the region, including the United Liberation Front of Assam (ULFA) and the National Socialist Council of Nagaland (NSCN). These operations have often been controversial, with allegations of human rights abuses and extrajudicial killings.
  • Humanitarian and disaster relief efforts: The Assam Rifles has also played a role in providing aid and assistance during natural disasters and other emergencies. For example, the force was involved in rescue and relief efforts after the devastating 2015 earthquake in Nepal.                                            There are a total of 17 posts available across different states in India, with varying numbers of vacancies per state.   • Educational Qualification:To be eligible for this position, candidates must have completed 10+2 or an equivalent qualification and hold a degree or diploma in pharmacy from a recognized institution. The course should have included a two-year period of training followed by an internship, with at least 500 hours of practical training, of which 250 hours should have been devoted to actual dispensing of prescriptions. Additionally, candidates must possess the qualifications listed under Sections 31 and 32 of the Pharmacy Act, 1948, and be registered under Section 33 of the same Act.

    The age limit for this position is 20 to 25 years. However, there may be age relaxations or other eligibility criteria applicable based on the specific recruitment notification and the rules and regulations of the Indian government.

  • Application Fee: (a) For Group B posts (i.e., Religious Teacher and Bridge & Road posts only), the application fee is Rs. 200/- (Rupees two hundred only). For Group C posts (i.e., except Religious Teacher and Bridge & Road posts), the application fee is Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only).

    (b) The fee can be deposited online by the candidates into SBI Current Account No. 37088046712 in favor of HQ DGAR, Recruitment Branch, Shillong-10 at SBI Laitkor Branch IFSC Code – SBIN0013883.

    (c) No fee is charged from candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, female candidates, and ex-servicemen candidates. The fee once paid shall not be refunded under any circumstances nor will it be adjusted against any other expenses.

  • The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) for Assam Rifles recruitment consists of the following parameters:

    • All India except Ladakh Region:
      • For Male Candidates: 5 km run to qualify within 24 minutes
      • For Female Candidates: 1.6 km run to qualify within 8.30 minutes
    • Ladakh Region:
      • For Male Candidates: 1.6 km run to qualify within 6.30 minutes
      • For Female Candidates: 800 meter run to qualify within 4.00 minutes

    Female candidates are required to provide an undertaking certificate declaring that they are not pregnant before undergoing the PET. If a female candidate is found to be pregnant of 12 weeks or more during the tests, she will be declared temporarily unfit and her appointment will be held in abeyance until the confinement is over. The vacancy against which a female candidate was selected will be kept reserved for her. She will be re-examined for the PET after six weeks from the date of confinement, subject to the production of a medical certificate of fitness from a registered medical practitioner.

    Candidates who qualify in the PET/PST/Documentation will be considered eligible for shortlisting to the next stage, which includes Trade Test, Written Test, and Detailed Medical Examination.

    4. Upload a copy of the payment receipt/challan online and take a printout of the completed application form and notification downloaded from the Assam Rifles website.
    5. Report for Physical Standard Test (PST)/ Physical Efficiency Test (PET) and produce the original copy of payment receipt/challan for official records.
    6. Ensure to provide a functional email ID and mobile phone number in the online application form as all further information regarding the recruitment process will be intimated through Email/SMS only.
    7. Check the details filled in each field of the form before submitting it. After submission, no change/correction/modification will be allowed under any circumstances.
    8. Assam Rifles will not be responsible for any inability of the candidates to submit their applications before the closing date.
