The National Institute for Research on Socioeconomic Impacts of Diseases and Systemic Risks (SYRI) is a collaborative initiative uniting experts from Masaryk University, Charles University, and institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences. Functioning as a virtual scientific hub, SYRI aims to foster collaboration among scientists who may not typically work together, offering real-time solutions and recommendations.
With a focus on societal risks and strategies for mitigation, SYRI’s social scientists concentrate on researching unforeseen events such as the Covid-19 pandemic, the conflict in Ukraine, inflation, rising prices, and climate change. Recent global events have underscored the vulnerability of our era to various risks, exacerbating socioeconomic disparities.
SYRI’s mission includes providing comprehensive data and analysis that have been lacking in the Czech Republic, empowering policymakers to make informed decisions.
