About Southern Railway
Established on April 14, 1951, through the merger of the Madras and Southern Mahratta Railway, the South Indian Railway, and the Mysore State Railway, Southern Railway extends over a large area of India’s Southern Peninsula, covering the states of Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Puducherry, and parts of Andhra Pradesh. The Southern Railway network serves these naturally abundant and culturally rich regions, stretching from Mangalore on the west coast, Kanniyakumari in the south, to Renigunta and Gudur in the north.
Position: Pharmacist (Group ‘C’) – Medical Department
Location: Southern Railway & ICF Hospitals

Eligibility Criteria:
- Retired railway employees from the Medical Department who previously held the specific post they are applying for.
- Must not have retired under Safety Related Retirement Scheme (SRRS) or Liberalized Active Retirement Scheme for Guaranteed Employment for Safety (LARSGESS).
- Should not have been compulsorily retired, removed, or dismissed from service.
Medical Fitness:
Candidates must be found medically fit in the required category (C2) as specified for the post.
Age Limit:
Candidates must not exceed 65 years during the re-engagement period. The contract will last until the end of the month in which the candidate turns 65.
Remuneration:
- A fixed monthly amount will be determined by deducting the basic pension from the pay drawn at the time of retirement. This amount will remain unchanged during the contract period.
- No increment, Dearness Allowance, or HRA will be provided.
- A fixed Transport Allowance will be given for commuting between residence and workplace.
- Travel Allowance/DA may be provided for official tours as per entitlement at retirement.
- Paid leave of 1.5 days for every completed month of service.

- Pension Payment Order
- Last Pay Slip
- Saving Bank Account Passbook
- Four recent passport-sized photographs
Selection Process:
- The suitability of retired employees will be assessed based on safety records and operational requirements.
- The final decision will be made by a committee formed for the purpose.
- The contract may be terminated upon joining of new candidates through RRB/RRC/CGA or if the performance is unsatisfactory.
Terms and Conditions:
- This re-engagement is purely temporary. Services will be terminated upon reaching 65 years of age, on recruitment of regular staff, or as per manpower planning.
- Working hours will be the same as regular staff in similar positions.
- The re-engagement period will not be counted as service for any purpose.
- Re-engaged staff will not be entitled to bonuses, advances, or welfare schemes available to regular employees.
- Posting locations will be at the discretion of the Railway Administration based on need.
- The number of vacancies may change as per Railway Administration requirements.
