The National Health Systems Resource Centre (NHSRC) is established as an autonomous registered society under the National Health Mission (NHM). Its primary purpose is to provide technical assistance and capacity building support to the various states in order to enhance and strengthen their public health systems. Additionally, the NHSRC is tasked with aiding in the development of policies and strategies, facilitating the mobilization of technical assistance for the states, and offering capacity building initiatives to support the states in improving their healthcare services.

Job Post: Consultant, Quality & Patient Safety

  • Location: Guwahati, North-Eastern States

Objective

As a Consultant, Quality & Patient Safety, your role will be to strengthen and support Quality & Patient Safety activities in the North-Eastern States. Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing technical assistance and capacity building support to NE States for strengthening the Public Health System.
  • Supporting the implementation of the National Quality Assurance Program (NQAP) at different levels of Public health facilities.
  • Liaison with the States/UTs to improve the Quality of Care in the Public Health System and enhance Patient Safety and Satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Roll out of ‘Operational Guidelines for Quality Assurance in Public Health Facilities.’
  • Advocacy, customization of checklists, workshops, seminars, gap closure actions, and certification process facilitation.
  • Imparting QA trainings at state and district levels.
  • Travel to states and districts, including ‘hard to reach’ areas.
  • Development and review of resource material for trainings.
  • Technical Assistance to states and districts in Operationalization of Quality Assurance Units.
  • Follow-up with NE States for NQAP updates.
  • Review of drugs & logistics procurement system.
  • Appraisal of State PIP and various documents shared by Ministry.
  • Drafting and Report writing.
  • Any other functions as allotted by Director – RRC-NE & Senior Consultant- Q&PS.

Qualifications and Experience

Essential:

  • MBBS/BDS/Bachelor’s in any stream of AYUSH/Bachelor in pharmacy/B.Sc. Nursing degree.
  • Postgraduate degree/diploma (2-3 years regular full-time course) in Community Medicine, Public Health, Community Nursing, Hospital Management/Administration.
  • At least 2 years of experience after post-graduation in Quality Assurance/Health System/Public Health.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Proficiency in MS Office package, and knowledge of computerized data analytical packages.

Desirable:

  • Experience in hospital certification/accreditation to recognized quality systems.
  • Recognized Qualification in a Quality System.
  • Experience in hospital administration department of certified facilities.

Travel and Subsistence

  • As per NHSRC/RRC-NE norms, including travel reimbursement.

Reporting Requirements

  • Submit monthly/applicable updated reports to the Director, RRC-NE through Senior Consultant-Q&PS and Lead Consultant.

Workstation

  • RRC, NE, Guwahati, with potential relocation to any NE State as needed.

Consultancy Period and Consultancy Fees

  • Initially until March 31, 2025, with the first 3 months on probation.
  • Monthly fee as per NHSRC HR policy (Rs.60,000/- to Rs.1,20,000/-).
  • Additional benefits as per NHSRC policy.
  • Age Limit: Not above 45 years (as of the last application date).
