The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is a vital agency dedicated to protecting public health by ensuring that human and animal drugs, medical devices, foods, cosmetics, and more are safe and effective. The Center for Drug Evaluation and Research (CDER) plays a crucial role in making sure safe, effective drugs are available to improve health outcomes for the U.S. population.

We are currently seeking a dedicated Pharmacologist/Toxicologist to join our multidisciplinary team in Silver Spring, MD.

Salary: USD 117,962 – USD 185,346
Work Schedule: Full-Time
Cures Band(s): Band C
Travel Requirements: 25% or less
Relocation: May qualify for reimbursement

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Pharmacologist/Toxicologist, you will review and evaluate drug applications, working with a multidisciplinary team within CDER. Your core responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing nonclinical data to assess the safety of drugs.
  • Making regulatory recommendations and ensuring product labeling reflects accurate safety information.
  • Participating in nonclinical safety assessments and serving as a subject matter expert on various work groups.
  • Evaluating in silico, in vitro, ex-vivo, and animal data to assess safety and efficacy.
  • Using advanced scientific knowledge to recommend safe first-in-human doses for clinical trials.

Qualifications

To qualify for this Title 21 Cures position, you must meet the following criteria:

Education Requirements:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in toxicology, pharmacology, or related sciences from an accredited institution.

Preferred Experience and Education:

  • Doctorate degree in fields such as neuroscience, immunology, or molecular biology.
  • Expertise in molecular, cellular, or systems biology, pharmacology, and toxicology.

Additional Conditions of Employment:

  • Background investigation and security clearance.
  • Compliance with E-Verify requirements.
  • Ability to meet all qualification standards by the closing date.
