Hair Care Program Leader, South Asia BU

Job Summary

  • Stakeholder Leadership: Be a critical link between technical teams, marketing, supply chain, and other functions.
  • Regional Expertise: Develop region-specific margin improvements and savings pipeline.

Key Responsibilities

  • Product Development Leadership: Oversee product development for Shampoo, Conditioners, and Styling products.
  • Technical Team Management: Lead a team of Technical Project Leaders and ensure technology transfer to factories.
  • Stakeholder Liaison: Act as the primary contact for marketing, supply chain, and other cross-functional senior stakeholders.
  • Formulation Insights: Provide insights for claims development and ensure local insights influence global projects.
  • Realism and Urgency: Maintain a sense of purpose and urgency within the technical teams and the category.
  • Supplier Ecosystem: Develop an understanding of the supplier ecosystem to support innovation.

Material, Compliance, and Sustainability

  • Material Resilience: Partner with GDC and procurement to identify margin improvement opportunities.
  • Product Superiority: Lead the product superiority agenda by identifying consumer preference drivers.
  • Compliance and Advocacy: Ensure products comply with country regulations and lead compliance projects.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Develop a pipeline of formulas for business growth and leverage external capabilities.
  • AI and Digital: Lead initiatives on digital, AI, and data prediction modeling.
  • Line Management: Lead the formulation team and lab operations, manage and develop direct reports.

Candidate Profile

  • Qualification Required at Unilever: M.Pharm or M.Sc (Chemistry) or Ph.D. (Chemistry/Biomedical Engg).
  • Experience Required at Unilever: 10-15 years in FMCG industry with 3-5 years in program leadership.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in liquid formats and Personal care and Hair R&D is advantageous.
  • Skills: Strong communication, stakeholder management, and leadership in cross-functional teams.
