Job Description: As a Scientist specializing in Toxicology and Clinical Safety, you will play a pivotal role in assessing the safety of ingredients, finished products, and formulations for consumer products. Your responsibilities will primarily revolve around toxicology risk assessment, literature review, and coordination with third-party contractors. Although laboratory work is not involved, your expertise in toxicology, clinical safety, and medical writing will be essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct literature searches and collect safety data for toxicology and clinical safety issues.
- Review hazard assessments of ingredients and approve fragrances and flavors.
- Perform toxicology risk assessments for raw materials and formulations, including margin of safety calculations.
- Assess skin tolerance of cosmetic ingredients and products from preclinical and clinical perspectives.
- Review and interpret clinical skin safety studies.
- Conduct safety assessments for impurities, degradants, and products as per regulatory requirements.
- Review products at different stages of the development cycle and maintain documents via the product safety & compliance SharePoint site.
Candidate Profile:
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in toxicology, pharmacology, or a relevant science discipline.
- 1-2 years of experience in consumer product risk assessment or relevant toxicology and clinical safety experience.
- Knowledge of in silico predictions in toxicology.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for product safety submissions and experience in medical writing.
