The Centre for Cellular & Molecular Biology (CCMB) is a premier research organization located in Hyderabad, India. It is one of the constituent national laboratories under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and is devoted to conducting cutting-edge research in the areas of modern biology.
The primary objectives of CCMB are to carry out high-quality basic research in the areas of cellular and molecular biology, genetics, and genomics, among others. CCMB also aims to provide training to young scientists and researchers and promote inter-disciplinary research in biology.
In addition, CCMB promotes the development of centralized national facilities for advanced techniques in various areas of biology. These facilities are available to researchers from across India and other countries, enabling them to conduct cutting-edge research in their respective fields.
As a Project Scientist-II, you would need to meet the following qualifications and requirements:
- Essential Qualification: You should have either of the following:
- Doctoral degree in Science from a recognized university or equivalent
- Master’s degree in Engineering or Technology from a recognized university or equivalent.
- Experience: You must have a minimum of three years of experience in Research and Development in Industrial and Academic Institutions or Science and Technology Organisations and Scientific activities and services.
- Age limit: The upper age limit for this position is 40 years.

The ideal candidate should have a PhD in Medical Biotechnology/Biotechnology/Biochemistry/Microbiology/Life Sciences/Biomedical Engineering with a focus on the epidemiology of monogenic and/or complex disorders. The candidate should have at least 3 years of experience in cohorts related work, generating high throughput data using Next-generation Sequencing technologies, and performing bioinformatic and statistical analysis of genotype-phenotype correlation.
The candidate should have experience handling field studies and organizing camps and training workshops. They should have expertise in system-based analysis of Next-generation sequencing data and assimilate with clinical, biochemical, metabolomic data to draw meaningful conclusions related to disease susceptibility, preferably in non-communicable diseases.
Overall, the candidate should have strong molecular biology skills, including experience with OMIC technologies, data analysis, and statistical methods. The ideal candidate should have experience in analyzing high throughput genomic data, such as Next-Generation Sequencing based data. They should be proficient in Linux/bash/command line interface and have the ability to create and modify custom pipelines for data analysis. They should also have experience in bioinformatic and statistical tools for system-based analysis, combining various kinds of OMIC data, as well as large phenotype data.
The candidate should have good programming knowledge, with proficiency in at least one language such as C, C++, R, Python, JS, or Perl, as demonstrated by publications or GitHub profile or other code repositories.
