A Junior/Senior Research Fellow (JRF/SRF) at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani – Hyderabad campus is a research position for individuals interested in pursuing a career in academia or industry. The JRF/SRF will be expected to contribute to ongoing research projects under the supervision of a faculty member or senior researcher. The Junior/Senior Research Fellow (JRF/SRF) position is available to work on a research project sponsored by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR).
Title of the project :The project aims to develop epigenetic modulators as a therapy for cognitive deficits associated with psychosis using novel selective histone deacetylase-3 inhibitors. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Balaram Ghosh (Principal Investigator) and Prof. Onkar Kulkarni (Co-Principal Investigator) and will be expected to contribute to the research objectives and goals of the project.
Duration of Project : The position is full-time and is expected to last for a duration of 3 years.
Fellowship amount : The fellowship amount for the Junior/Senior Research Fellow (JRF/SRF) position is as per the norms set by the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), which is a monthly stipend of Rs. 31,000.
Eligibility requirements : To be eligible for the position, a candidate must have a M.Pharm in Medicinal/Pharmaceutical Chemistry or a M.Sc. in Organic Chemistry. Possession of GPAT/NET/GATE qualification is preferable, but not mandatory. Candidates with hands-on experience in multi-step organic synthesis will be given preference. The eligibility requirements indicate that the ideal candidate will have a strong academic background in medicinal/pharmaceutical chemistry or organic chemistry, as well as relevant laboratory experience.

If selected, the candidate may be permitted to register for the PhD program of BITS, Pilani, subject to the fulfillment of the requirements.
