Associate Consultant – Social Innovation for SPARSH Program of BIRAC

Position Code: CON-40
Consolidated Fee: Rs. 75,000/- per month
Duration: One year initially (extendable based on performance)

Job Description

SPARSH, BIRAC’s social innovation initiative, aims to harness biotechnological solutions for addressing pressing societal challenges. This role within SPARSH entails executing the following responsibilities:

Essential Qualification

Mandatory: Masters in Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Agri/Plant Sciences, Humanities, Pharma, Management, Social Science, International Development, or related fields.
Preferred: Ph.D. in the aforementioned disciplines from a recognized institute.

Experience

Between 3 to 10 years post-qualification, with a minimum of 2 years in managing national/international fellowship/grant/award, social enterprise, nonprofits, or impact-driven organizations.

Desirable Skills

  • Proficient in written and oral English communication.
  • Experience in managing grant programs, including proposal review, grantee selection, and project monitoring.
  • Strong grasp of social innovation concepts and approaches.
  • Excellent project management skills, including task prioritization and meeting deadlines.

Age Limit: Maximum 45 years as of the closing date of the vacancy.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate social innovation program implementation, including grant management and compliance.
  • Organize and participate in program-related meetings, workshops, and discussions.
  • Review grant proposals and assess project feasibility, making funding recommendations.
  • Manage grantee/fellow selection, conduct due diligence, and negotiate grant agreements.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to grantees/fellows, monitoring project progress.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external partners to align projects with organizational goals.
  • Coordinate with the communications team to highlight program impact.
  • Track and report program performance metrics and stay updated on social innovation trends.
  • Assist in other SPARSH activities and ensure timely task delivery.
