About the Role
As a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL), you will play a crucial role in scientifically engaging, collaborating, and aligning with a diverse range of external stakeholders to co-create value, address patient needs, and ultimately transform the practice of medicine. Your engagements will leverage the right evidence at the right time, and you will identify insights and opportunities that impact and inform Novartis’ Integrated Product Strategy (IPS), evidence generation plans, and medical strategies. Your contributions will also extend to innovative healthcare partnerships and the implementation of relevant disease area strategies. You will act as a strategic scientific partner, working closely with other field matrix colleagues to ensure healthcare systems are strengthened, and patient access and outcomes are improved.


Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a strategic internal partner by gathering and leveraging insights that contribute to patient journey mapping, launch excellence roadmaps, and integrated product strategies.
  • Identify data gaps, generation opportunities, and key unmet needs to improve patient access and outcomes.
  • Ensure appropriate identification and mapping of external stakeholders, aligned with the medical strategy, and collaborate with other Novartis colleagues to create personalized, flexible engagement strategies.
  • Expand external stakeholder engagement beyond healthcare professionals, contributing to innovative partnership models that transform clinical practice.
  • Communicate relevant evidence to stakeholders at the right time, responding to unsolicited requests for information with appropriate data on marketed and pipeline compounds.
  • Support Novartis clinical trials and leverage digital channels for broader, effective, personalized reach and impact.
  • Manage personal and professional development, adhere to compliance protocols, and collaborate with medical teams and healthcare providers to facilitate Managed Access Programs (MAPs) when necessary.

Candidate Profile

  • Pharmacist, Masters, or other post-graduate degree in health/life sciences; Doctoral degree preferred (PharmD, PhD, MD).
  • Demonstrated credibility and clarity of purpose in building collaborative relationships, with a strong understanding of the healthcare system and research procedures.
  • 2-3 years of experience in a medical function, with expertise in at least one therapeutic area.
  • Capable of self-directed learning with a growth mindset; excellent communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.
  • Ability to adapt, prioritize, and work effectively in a dynamic, field-based environment.
  • Proven ability to leverage technology and digital solutions for stakeholder mapping, management, and insights gathering.
  • Strong business acumen, critical thinking, and a performance-focused drive, with a high degree of personal integrity.
