The Chittaranjan Cancer Hospital (CCH) and the Chittaranjan National Cancer Research Centre (CNCRC) in West Bengal, India was founded with the support of Dr. B.C. Roy and was inaugurated by Prof. Madam J. Curie in 1950. It was named after Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Das, in recognition of his donation of land and property. The hospital started as a cancer treatment center and later expanded into basic and clinical research with government funding. The CNCRC, which was committed to basic research on cancer, was established in 1957 with funding from the Government of India.

The Director of Chittaranjan National Cancer Institute is inviting applicants for a walk-in-interview on February 20, 2023 at 11 AM for the position of Research Associate. The interview will be held in the CNCI Auditorium on the 5th floor of the Research Wing. The position is part of an ICMR-sponsored project focused on using phosphoprotein biomarkers to develop an ELISA test for predicting chronic hepatitis, liver cirrhosis, and hepatocellular carcinoma. The project is under the supervision of Dr. Chinmay Kumar Panda, Dr. Bishnupada Chatterjee, and Dr. Sankhadeep Dutta in the Department of Oncogene Regulation at CNCI.

Duration : The duration of the position is for the final year of the project, until August 9, 2023.

Fellowship :  The Fellowship for the Research Associate position offers a basic pay of Rs. 47,000/- per month, with a 24% HRA as per ICMR rules.

Essential Qualification : The required essential qualification for the position is a Ph.D degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biotechnology, Biological Sciences, or Chemical Science with at least two peer-reviewed journal publications. Preferred candidates will have research expertise in Proteomics, Molecular Biology, and ELISA.

Age Limit: The age limit for the Research Associate position is a maximum of 40 years as of the date of advertisement publication, with a 2-year relaxable age limit for female candidates. Applicants are expected to attend the walk-in-interview on February 20, 2023 at 11 AM with a written application addressed to the Director of CNCI and a complete biodata along with supporting documents. Candidates must bring original certificates and testimonials for verification during the interview. Failure to produce original documents will result in disqualification from the interview. The appointment as a Research Associate in this ad-hoc project does not guarantee regularization to any permanent or temporary positions at the institute or elsewhere.
